I’m no expert on world news, politics or anything like that.  But there are two, yae, three nations that I think are quite significant, which we should pray for, and which I have a burden for.

They are China, North Korea, and Israel.

I hope to post on this page specifically about these nations.

However, I urge you to educate yourself.  We are not alone, and the movements of the world do affect us (check my blog on that here).  There are some amazing ministries out there that can give you the skinny on what’s REALLY happening in other parts of the world.  What you see on TV news is many times a far cry from reality . . .

go to:  International Justice MissionOpen Doors, or Gospel for Asia, and see what’s happening in the world.
Sign up for their e-newsletters/updates and give lots of money.  Why not?  It goes further overseas anyway. :)

I’m very encouraged about what is going on in North Korea regarding talks with South Korea, and some moves toward peace and being more involved with the world.  However, I still look with a skeptical eye on these moves.  Let’s remember, folks, most of North Korea lives without electricity and most of the people are ravaged by constant famine.  There is NOT enough food to feed the people!  Sometimes aid sent from other nations gets hoarded by the political officials and never makes it to those who are truly in need!  As they say, the fat get fatter — and this should not be!

Please, don’t misunderstand… I’m not usually such a negative cynic.  But, it breaks my heart to hear of what people are suffering in North Korea, it’s just WRONG.  I encourage you to educate yourself on these issues . . . and if you believe, PRAY!  That’s what I do!  And if you feel so led, GIVE!  I would highly recommend the ministry of Alpha Relief as a great organization to give to if your heart is moved for North Korea.  They also have a great blog site if you want to stay in touch with what’s going on there.  They’ll be more thorough than me, I’m sure.  :)

February 29, 2008.  Looking across the table into the tired but smiling face of the young North Korean, the realization suddenly hit me; our lives could very well have been exchanged.  God has instead chosen my environment to be one of comfort and luxury while a much more difficult path was marked out for my brother on the other side of the world.”  Check out this moving story: http://alpharelief.wordpress.com/2008/02/28/jeongs-story/
