I appreciate your comments as I was wondering those same things, also why did Jesus say to the man..."Son, your sins are forgiven" ? Is it possible that the man did not feel worthy to be healed because of all the wrong he saw in his life. He may have thought that because of all the wrong in his life he needed to DO something to "get right with God" when really he needed to JUST BELIEVE God is a good and will heal him for His glory alone. It would seem like that kind of encounter would alone push him towards "getting right with God" Love does cover a multitude of sins. Just some thoughts... In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” (Jeremiah 23:5–6). Paul gives us some insight into God’s definition of righteousness in several passages. “Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness” (Romans 4:3). “Faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness” (Romans 4:9). “Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness” (Galatians 3:6).
